“McDonald’s Fans Upset Over £2 Hash Brown Price Hike”

McDonald’s enthusiasts are expressing discontent following a viral post that revealed the price of a hash brown nearing £2 at select restaurants. The post displayed a snapshot of a McDonald’s menu indicating a £1.99 cost for a hash brown at that specific location.

The post has garnered over 459,000 views and was captioned with, “£2 for one hash brown. We’re calling it quits.” Reactions poured in, with one person noting the drastic price increase, while another suggested opting for a sausage sandwich at the same rate. The general sentiment echoed that of disbelief at the elevated price.

Commentary continued, with one person praising the hash browns while deeming £2 excessive, reminiscing about the days when they were priced at 59p. A McDonald’s spokesperson clarified that franchisees determine pricing, emphasizing their commitment to quality and value.

This uproar coincides with McDonald’s announcement of adjustments to the MyMcDonald’s Rewards program. The required points for free items, such as a Big Mac or Chicken Nuggets, will increase from 5,500 to 6,500 points starting March 17. Points are earned at a rate of 100 points per £1 spent at McDonald’s.

The loyalty scheme changes were attributed to the escalating costs of food and supplies, according to a McDonald’s representative. While points thresholds for rewards have increased, new redemption options like Chicken Selects and Sausage Sandwiches have been introduced to enhance customer choices.
