Vodafone Introduces Scam Call Protection Service to Combat Phone Scams
The rise of unwanted phone calls is a familiar issue for smartphone users, with reports indicating that the average UK consumer receives around eight suspicious calls every month. These calls often aim to extract personal information and credit card details for fraudulent purposes.
To address this growing concern and enhance customer safety, Vodafone has unveiled a new service called Scam Call Protection. Using artificial intelligence (AI), this feature can detect and flag potentially deceptive, spam, scam, and bothersome calls.
Operating discreetly in the background, Scam Call Protection scrutinizes incoming calls. If any suspicious activity is detected, customers will receive a clear on-screen alert warning them about a potential scam call.
Rob Winterschladen, Consumer Director at VodafoneThree, emphasized the importance of such a service in today’s evolving scam landscape. He stated, “Scam calls are becoming increasingly harder to spot, and it’s easy to feel caught off guard. Scam Call Protection on Vodafone Secure Net Mobile offers customers an additional layer of security, continuously monitoring calls and highlighting known or suspected scam calls.”
This initiative is part of Vodafone’s Secure Net Mobile platform, which already includes advanced parental controls, around-the-clock ID monitoring to combat identity theft, and real-time virus and malware protection.
Interested individuals can trial the Scam Call Protection service for free for three months, with a subsequent monthly fee of £2 thereafter.
