Michael McIntyre has shared that he has begun using Mounjaro to lose weight after his wife Kitty encouraged him. Doctors cautioned him that at his previous weight of 15st 10lbs, he was considered obese.
Initially hesitant, the 49-year-old presenter of The Wheel revealed that he started seeing results within just three weeks.
Speaking at one of his comedy shows in London, Michael disclosed his weight loss journey, stating, “Have you noticed how tiny I am? I have lost weight. Don’t applaud it because there is a little bit of cheating that has gone on. The doctor told me I weighed 100kg. He told me I was ‘obese’. How rude. He said, ‘It’s a medical term.'”
Despite facing weight fluctuations over the years, the witty comedian attributed his recent weight gain to indulging in leftovers from his wife and two sons, Lucas and Oscar.
Mounjaro, also known as tirzepatide in the medical realm, has gained popularity for weight loss similar to Ozempic and Wegovy. This food suppressant drug mimics the naturally occurring GLP-1 hormone, aiding in reducing blood sugar levels and promoting feelings of fullness.
Initially designed for diabetes treatment, Mounjaro has demonstrated success in weight loss, with celebrities like Oprah Winfrey and Sharon Osbourne having used it previously.
Michael has made efforts over the years to manage his weight, reportedly spending £4,000 per week at a weight loss clinic in Austria. He recounted his experience at the Mayr clinic in 2017, where he felt “depressed” due to the limited diet of soup and crackers.
During an interview on Jessie Ware’s Table Manners podcast in 2020, Michael mentioned his weight loss journey at the Mayr clinic, revealing his aversion to apples due to the clinic’s advice that they could make him lethargic and confused.
