Sky has introduced two new smart home plans in the UK featuring internet-connected cameras and cloud recordings starting at just £5 per month. This competitive offer aims to provide consumers with an affordable alternative to popular home security systems like Ring doorbells and Google’s Nest.
The first plan, priced at £5 per month with a £15 upfront fee, includes a Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime. It offers features such as full HD video recording, instant alerts to your phone, customisable activity zones, two-way talk, and 30 days of cloud video storage.
For those seeking additional security measures, the Smart Home Bundle with Smart Home Plan+ is available for £8 per month with a £20 upfront fee. This package includes an indoor camera and enhanced app features like scheduled arming and automatic arm modes.
Paul Sweeney, Managing Director of Sky Smart Home, emphasized the company’s commitment to making high-quality smart technology accessible and user-friendly. The new plans mark a shift for Sky, expanding beyond their Protect Smart Home Insurance to offer standalone smart home services for the first time.
In comparison, Amazon currently sells the Ring Doorbell with Chime for £119.99, with additional costs for cloud recording access through a Ring Protect subscription starting at £4.99 per month. Sky’s competitive pricing and comprehensive features aim to provide customers with a cost-effective and convenient home security solution.
