In a 2020 video from Joe’s Cup Of Joe podcast, Sophie was surprised with a birthday message from Chris, whom she recently went on a ‘secret’ date with, according to reports.
The video shows the pair sitting in a restaurant when Joe hands his phone to Sophie and reveals that someone wants to wish her a happy birthday. Sophie reacts with shock and joy upon seeing Chris Martin on the screen.
Chris, identified as “Chris from Coldplay” in the video, sends his best wishes to Sophie and expresses love on behalf of himself and his bandmates before signing off by thanking her for being amazing. An emotional Sophie attempts to hold back tears, exclaiming that she won’t cry on camera, and then returns the phone to Joe. The two share a happy moment, laughing and high-fiving each other.
Chris had been single for some months following his split from Dakota Johnson in June, while Sophie and Peregrine’s relationship seemed to be on and off before officially ending after a high-profile wedding in late September.
