“Luke Littler Makes History with Back-to-Back World Titles”

Good day and welcome to our live broadcast of the World Darts Championship Final at Alexandra Palace this evening.

Luke Littler has made history by becoming only the fourth man to reach three consecutive finals and securing back-to-back world titles. He dominated Gian van Veen 7-1 to claim the £1 million prize money and the prestigious Sid Waddell Trophy.

This victory propels the 18-year-old to the top spot in the world rankings, while Van Veen, the beaten finalist, rises to number three globally and becomes the top-ranked player in the Netherlands.

In the semi-finals, ‘The Nuke’ defeated Ryan Searle 6-1, while Gian van Veen, in his debut World Championship Final and second major final, triumphed over Gary Anderson in a thrilling 6-3 encounter.

Despite Van Veen’s pre-match advantage, Littler’s exceptional performance saw him win all seven sets consecutively with an impressive average of 106.02. He hit 16 180s, 19 140s, and maintained a 46% success rate on doubles.

The excitement of the World Darts Championship has concluded with Luke Littler successfully defending his title. Stay tuned for the upcoming Premier League Darts starting next month for more darting action.

As the Premier League approaches, the lineup of eight players for the four-month tournament will be revealed soon. Luke Littler, Luke Humphries, Gian van Veen, and Michael van Gerwen are confirmed participants, with four spots yet to be filled.

Luke Littler, now a two-time PDC world champion, is nearing the record of Phil Taylor and Michael van Gerwen. However, Wayne Mardle warns that sustaining success in darts is a challenging feat.

In a post-match interview, Gian van Veen gracefully acknowledged Littler’s dominance, expressing pride in his journey to the final despite the defeat.

Luke Littler’s outstanding performance also earned him the Ballon d’Art for hitting the most 180s in the tournament. Additionally, the tournament’s 1127 180s led to a donation of £1.1 million to Prostate Cancer UK by the sponsors.

Paying tribute to Anthony Joshua’s friends’ passing, Luke Littler echoed the former champion’s famous quote after his remarkable victory.

Luke Littler’s back-to-back world titles have solidified his position as the new world number one, marking a historic moment in his career.
