Two individuals lost their lives immediately in a tragic collision involving the SUV carrying Anthony Joshua, as reported by witnesses. The British boxer sustained injuries and was rushed to a hospital in Nigeria for treatment. The incident occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway near Makun in Ogun state, where Joshua’s SUV crashed into a stationary truck.
Eyewitnesses stated that Joshua’s security team followed closely behind, and bystanders quickly intervened to aid in the rescue efforts. The accident was attributed to a burst tire causing the vehicle to swerve and lose control. Local authorities, including the Ogun state traffic compliance and enforcement agency, are investigating the crash involving Joshua.
According to Adeniyi Orojo, an eyewitness interviewed by Punch newspaper, the accident involved a convoy of two vehicles, a Lexus SUV, and a Pajero SUV. The Lexus, carrying Joshua and three other occupants, collided with the truck, resulting in the immediate deaths of two passengers. Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, confirmed that Joshua was safe and en route to the hospital, though he had limited information on the incident.
Joshua, who was in Nigeria visiting his parents’ homeland, recently won a bout against Jake Paul. The victory came after a competitive fight that left Paul with a broken jaw in two places. Looking ahead, Joshua hinted at significant plans for 2026 and reignited his rivalry with Tyson Fury in his post-fight remarks. He expressed gratitude to his supporters on social media and teased upcoming endeavors.
