Football Fan Thwarts Train Stabbing, Shrugs Off Hero Label

A man hailed as a hero for intervening during a train stabbing incident has downplayed his actions, stating he simply did what he felt was right. Stephen Crean, a Nottingham Forest supporter returning from a football match, found himself in a confrontation with a knife-wielding assailant on a train journey from Doncaster to London King’s Cross. Despite sustaining injuries to his hands, lower back, and buttock, Crean managed to disarm the attacker and seek refuge in a train restroom until the train was rerouted to Huntingdon station.

Following the ordeal, Crean was treated for his injuries at a local hospital, where he received stitches and bandages for his wounds. Despite being labeled a hero by many, Crean insists he was just trying to slow down the attacker and has no regrets about his actions. The football enthusiast, who declined an offer from the Reds owner to cover his medical expenses, remains focused on his recovery and looks forward to returning to supporting his team at future games.

Meanwhile, the suspect, Anthony Williams, has been charged with multiple offenses, including attempted murder and possession of a bladed weapon, in connection with the attack. The incident left eleven individuals hospitalized, with two in critical condition, while others have been discharged.
