A man, Hakan Aysal, is currently incarcerated for pushing his pregnant wife, Semra Aysal, off a 1,000-foot cliff in Butterfly Valley, Turkey, shortly after taking photos with her. The court revealed that the victim, who was seven months pregnant, was tragically killed as part of her husband’s scheme to benefit from a life insurance policy he had acquired.
Reports indicated that Aysal deliberately led his wife, who had a fear of heights, to the edge of the cliff under the pretense of taking a selfie before callously pushing her off. The couple spent hours on the slope before the fatal act, ensuring no witnesses were present.
The suspicious incident came to light when Aysal attempted to claim a £40,000 insurance payout after his wife’s death. Further investigations showed he had taken out multiple loans in Semra’s name and embarked on a lavish lifestyle after her demise.
Aysal was charged with premeditated murder, with the court accepting an indictment against him. He was sentenced to a minimum of 30 years in prison before parole consideration. Witnesses described his demeanor as calm and carefree following the incident, with Aysal showing little concern during the search for his wife’s body.
Despite his incarceration, Aysal attempted to sue 200 individuals for online insults in 2022, seeking compensation for alleged defamation. His actions indicate a disturbing lack of remorse and a focus on financial gain even while serving a life sentence.
