Britain is expected to experience a significant increase in temperatures soon as the cold spell of autumn comes to a close, as per meteorologists.
Last night, temperatures plunged to near freezing in various parts of the country due to a persistent influx of cold Arctic air, but a shift in weather patterns is anticipated to bring about milder conditions in the upcoming days.
The latest forecasts from the Met Office indicate that daytime temperatures will rise to the low-to-mid teens across many regions this week, reaching 15C on Tuesday, October 28, and hitting 16C in southern England by Friday afternoon.
In a recent forecast, Met Office meteorologist Greg Dewhurst mentioned the shift in weather systems, stating that a northwest-bound weather front will bring cloud and rain across the country in the next 24 hours, leading to blustery conditions initially but a gradual rise in temperatures in the following days.
James Madden from Exacta Weather forecasts the possibility of further wintry showers, especially in higher altitudes in Scotland, from Tuesday onwards, suggesting that the cold weather might persist until Halloween.
After a spell of wet and windy weather, conditions are expected to improve, with rain becoming lighter and less impactful in most areas, particularly from Tuesday onward, and brighter spells emerging as the week progresses.
Monday will start with sunny spells and isolated showers, followed by heavy rain moving in towards the evening, covering Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, while southeastern regions remain dry.
The day will see a mix of sunny spells and showers, with increasing cloud cover in the west leading to evening rain. Breezy conditions are expected.
The weather will remain changeable, with intermittent rain or showers, mainly in the northwest, while the southeast enjoys drier and brighter conditions. Temperatures will return to near-average levels for most regions.
