“Man Leaps to Death from Courthouse Window in Escape Attempt”

A tragic incident unfolded as a young man’s life came to a sudden end when he leaped from a third-floor window in an attempt to avoid returning to prison.

The individual, identified as 22-year-old Tyquan Richardson, was facing charges related to marijuana distribution and possession of an illegal substance. Police officers alleged a connection between Richardson and a gun discovered outside the court office building, prompting them to move in for his arrest.

Upon realizing the impending consequences, Richardson made a desperate decision, crashing headfirst through a plate glass window on the third floor of the courthouse, resulting in a fatal fall. Authorities indicated that his actions were driven by a sense of panic at the thought of serving a custodial sentence.

The incident, which occurred in October 2015, left a significant hole in the window through which Richardson made his escape. Despite being rushed to a local hospital, he succumbed to his injuries around 1:30 pm.

Hailing from the Atlanta area in Georgia, Richardson had expressed concerns about the potential ramifications of the gun charge given his criminal history, according to a local law enforcement spokesperson.

Reports suggest that the 22-year-old had a history of prior convictions and was out on bail at the time of his arrest for allegedly concealing a loaded firearm, a violation of his bail conditions if proven true.

The loaded handgun, discovered outside the court offices alongside paperwork bearing Richardson’s name, was reportedly owned by him. While in police custody, Richardson managed to break free, charging towards the window, resulting in critical injuries upon impact with the concrete pavement below.

Having been held in custody for 15 days due to the drug-related charge, Richardson had only recently been released before the tragic incident. His criminal record included previous convictions, such as concealing a weapon in Michigan and a prior arrest for aggravated assault and battery in 2013.

Witnesses, including local student Rehmet Khan, described the shocking event, noting the sudden and dramatic nature of Richardson’s escape attempt. Fulton County Deputy Sheriff Dan Cochran expressed the community’s collective sense of disbelief and shock in response to the tragedy.
