An 81-year-old pilot tragically lost his life in Scotland following a light aircraft crash near a gliding center in Kinross. The pilot, whose identity has not been disclosed, was pronounced dead at the scene, with no other injuries reported. Authorities from Police Scotland have initiated an investigation into the incident, which occurred around 1.40pm on Monday at an airfield close to Scotlandwell, Kinross.
Emergency services, including firefighters, paramedics, and police, responded to the crash at the Scottish Gliding Centre in Scotlandwell shortly before 2pm. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the incident, stating that they received a call at 1.48pm reporting the aircraft crash, with response teams from Fife and Dundee dispatched to the scene.
Additionally, the Scotland Ambulance Service deployed resources to the crash site in Portmoak, Kinross. Local politicians, including Pete Wishart, MP for Perth and Kinross-shire, and Jim Fairlie, MSP for Perthshire South and Kinross-shire, expressed their condolences and gratitude towards the emergency responders involved in the tragic event.
