An individual who considers herself to be of noble rank has rescinded her invitation to Prince Andrew citing receiving threats of physical harm.
Lady Carbisdale, described as a lawyer and entrepreneur, has been the proprietor of Carbisdale Castle, a 19-room establishment, since 2022. Last week, she publicly declared on social media her offer to provide her property as a lodging option for Prince Andrew. Samantha Kane put forth the castle in Sutherland, Scotland, as a place “more appropriate to host a prince,” in response to reports of Andrew being relocated to a smaller royal Highland castle amidst allegations linked to Jeffrey Epstein.
Nevertheless, due to a “hostile” reception from the public, Ms. Kane has withdrawn her offer, although she affirms that the venue “remains accessible to assist” the royal family “if and when required.”
In a message on Facebook, Ms. Kane stated: “I corresponded with his Majesty King Charles III and Prince Andrew, initially to update King Charles on the advancements of the remarkable restoration work we have undertaken here at Carbisdale Castle, which His Majesty was closely following.
“Regarding the offer of the Castle to accommodate Prince Andrew and his family at the pleasure of His Majesty and to aid members of his Royal family, I took the opportunity to convey the negative public sentiments that were expressed subsequent to my support offer.
“A number of these sentiments were antagonistic towards me for proposing my Castle to the Prince, some even including threats of violence and potential damage. Given the circumstances, I believe the offer may not be feasible unless the Crown deems it suitable to utilize Carbisdale Castle, which, naturally, remains available to serve your Majesty or members of your family as necessary.”
On October 17, Prince Andrew disclosed his decision to relinquish his royal titles – shortly before the publication of the memoir of his accuser, Virginia Guiffre. The prince vehemently refutes the accusations and reached an out-of-court settlement in 2022. The settlement did not involve an admission of wrongdoing.
