Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua are set to face off in an anticipated heavyweight clash, with key details now disclosed. Earlier reports indicated that the long-standing rivalry between the two boxers would be settled in the ring in 2026. However, following Anthony Joshua’s victory over Jake Paul last Christmas, a tragic car accident in Nigeria claimed the lives of his close friends Sina Ghami and Lateef ‘Latz’ Ayodele.
Despite concerns that Joshua’s boxing career might be in jeopardy after the accident, the former two-time heavyweight world champion has resumed light training, hinting at a potential comeback to the ring this summer. Speculation suggests that Joshua may first meet former rival Dillian Whyte before a much-anticipated bout with Fury.
According to boxing journalist Gareth A Davies, both Fury and Joshua have officially agreed to the fight. Davies confirmed on talkSPORT that the match is signed and agreed upon behind the scenes. He expressed confidence that the showdown will be broadcast on Netflix, likely occurring late this year or early next year, with Joshua eyeing a return to action in June or July.
Netflix is expected to air Fury’s comeback on April 11, where he will face Arslanbek Makhmudov at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. The streaming platform has gained prominence in the boxing world, showcasing high-profile fights like Paul vs Joshua, Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford, and more recently, featuring Tyson’s return to the ring.
As Joshua prepares to resume full training for a potential comeback later this year, promoter Eddie Hearn remains optimistic about the possibility of a showdown between Fury and Joshua. While initial plans pointed to a fight in August, Joshua is expected to return to the ring in late summer. Hearn emphasized the importance of Joshua’s physical readiness, hinting that the Fury fight could materialize towards the end of the year or in early 2027.
