UK households relying on Freeview for their TV content are advised to check and potentially retune their equipment due to recent channel changes. Freeview has confirmed updates, including channel renaming and repositioning in the TV guide. While the adjustments are not extensive, a quick retune is recommended to keep devices up to date.
Freeview has announced that on May 20, 2026, certain broadcasters will be implementing channel modifications. To ensure that your TV channels and TV Guide remain current, it is necessary to perform a retune.
Several alterations are taking place, including two channels being rebranded. Hobbycraft TV on channel 97 has been renamed Shop Unlimited, and Great! Romance Mix on channel 61 has been replaced by Great! TV +1. Additionally, there are shifts in channel numbers, with Great! Movies moving from channel 61 to channel 62, and Great! TV +1 now occupying channel 61.
Freeview emphasized the continuous evolution of channels, with providers making decisions to relocate, add, or remove channels. The platform aims to offer audiences a diverse and engaging content selection.
If the updates are not automatically reflected on your TV, manual retuning may be required. To retune your TV, follow these steps:
1. Press the menu button on your TV or set-top box remote.
2. Select “set-up,” “installation,” “update,” or a similar option.
3. If prompted for a password, try “1234” or “0000”.
4. Choose “first-time installation,” “factory reset,” “full retune,” or “default settings”.
5. Press “OK” to confirm deletion of existing channels if prompted.
6. The retune process should initiate automatically.
7. Save any channels found during the scan if prompted.
