Donald Trump is facing new controversy regarding the Epstein files, with accusations that he is attempting to conceal the truth as officials announce that the full documents will not be released by the court-ordered deadline. Despite the Epstein Files Transparency Act requiring their disclosure, only a partial release is confirmed by the US Justice Department, with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche stating that hundreds of thousands of records will be initially made public, while additional documents will be withheld to protect the victims, with more releases expected in the following weeks.
Criticism of a cover-up has been voiced by prominent Democrats, including Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, who emphasized the demand for transparency and the immediate release of all Epstein files. Allegations have been made that this limited disclosure is aimed at shielding Donald Trump from his past associations with Epstein. Trump has consistently denied any involvement in Epstein’s illegal activities and asserts that he severed ties with the disgraced financier before his death.
Under the Epstein Files Transparency Act, the US Department of Justice is obligated to publish all files related to the Epstein investigation by the midnight deadline. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, speaking before the release, mentioned the expectation of several hundred thousand documents being revealed, encompassing various forms such as photographs and other investigative materials.
Blanche also explained the delay in releasing all files, citing the meticulous review process to ensure the protection of victims’ identities and stories. He anticipates the gradual release of more documents over the next few weeks.
Recent releases from Epstein’s estate included 68 new photographs featuring notable figures like Bill Gates, Woody Allen, Noam Chomsky, and Steve Bannon. Notably, being depicted in these images does not imply any wrongdoing. Additionally, the collection unveiled screenshots of WhatsApp chats discussing the recruitment of young women, along with disturbing images of a woman with excerpts from the novel “Lolita” inscribed on various body parts.
