“Formula 1 Driver Faces Near Miss with Track Marshals”

Formula 1 driver Liam Lawson faced a shocking moment at the Mexico City Grand Prix when he had to slow down to avoid hitting two track marshals. The incident occurred on the third lap of the race, with marshals unaware that Lawson had pitted for a front wing change due to damage sustained on the first lap.

Upon exiting the pit lane and approaching the first corner, Lawson encountered the two marshals unexpectedly running across the track in front of him, leaving him with no choice but to slow down to avoid a collision. Expressing his disbelief and concern over the situation, Lawson radioed his team about the near miss.

The FIA spokesperson stated that an investigation was underway regarding the incident and clarified the instructions given to the marshals by race control leading up to the incident. Following a turn one incident, marshals were alerted to debris on the track and were instructed to wait until all cars had passed before clearing it.

Despite retiring from the race due to damage, Lawson expressed his astonishment at the dangerous situation, emphasizing the need for a thorough explanation and prevention of such occurrences in the future. He and his Racing Bulls team vowed to seek clarity on the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The race was ultimately won by Lando Norris, who now leads the championship standings with just four rounds remaining, narrowly ahead of McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri. The incident involving Lawson and the track marshals highlighted the importance of safety protocols and communication in high-speed racing events.
