A taxi driver survived a violent attack after being shot seven times and losing six pints of blood, as the bullets became lodged in her fat. Brandy Littrell, aged 40, had a harrowing experience when a customer abducted and shot her while she was on duty as a taxi driver. The incident took place in 2021 when Brandy, then 36, had been working as a Lyft driver in Mississippi for five years.
In November of that year, Brandy responded to a ride request from Dontarius Magee, now 20 years old. Upon picking him up at his apartment, Magee revealed a handgun, threatening her. He demanded her car keys and Apple Watch before instructing her to move to the backseat. Brandy complied with his demands, feeling fearful and obeying him as he took control of the vehicle and drove recklessly.
During the terrifying ordeal, Magee interrogated Brandy about her possessions at her home, where she lived with her elderly grandmother. Eventually, he stopped the car near an apartment complex and forced her into the nearby woods at gunpoint.
In the secluded area, Magee menacingly ordered Brandy to kneel before shooting her seven times. Believing he had fatally wounded her, he fled the scene, leaving Brandy injured on the ground. Despite her critical condition, Brandy managed to reach a nearby apartment building where she received help.
Fortunately, the bullets had missed Brandy’s vital organs, and her excess weight played a surprising role in saving her life as the bullets got stuck in her fat tissue. Following the incident, the police recovered Brandy’s car, which Magee had used to continue his routine at McDonald’s, thinking he had succeeded in killing her.
After a week in the hospital, Brandy was discharged, although deeply traumatized by the experience. Four years later, she faced Magee in court, where he pleaded guilty to charges of attempted murder, armed robbery, carjacking, and kidnapping. Magee was sentenced to 30 years in prison, with Brandy expressing her disappointment at his lack of remorse or apology, describing him as evil and cold.
