“New El-Alamein City: Egypt’s £160M Riviera Gem”

A cutting-edge city project worth £160 million is taking shape on Egypt’s Mediterranean coast, aiming to rival popular European holiday destinations like Spain, Italy, and Greece.

Known as New El-Alamein City, this futuristic development is set to become the new hub of the Egyptian Riviera, offering pristine white beaches, clear waters, and pleasant November temperatures averaging around 24°C.

Situated in the Marsa Matruh governorate, approximately 60 kilometers along the Alexandria–Matrouh international highway, the city covers an expansive area of nearly 49,000 feddans (roughly 200 million square meters).

Once fully completed, New El-Alamein City is projected to accommodate close to three million residents, positioning itself as one of the most advanced urban centers in the Middle East.

The initial phase of the project is already underway, focusing on constructing residences for about 400,000 individuals. The city’s comprehensive design integrates residential, cultural, tourism, industrial, and research sectors.

Featuring upscale hotels, luxury resorts, a private university, and dedicated structures for government officials, the development is set to offer a diverse range of amenities.

New El-Alamein City’s infrastructure, encompassing water treatment facilities, sewage systems, and advanced electricity networks, is a collaborative effort between Egypt’s Urban Communities Authority and the Armed Forces Engineering Authority.

The city will be segmented into different zones catering to tourism, historical sites, and residential areas, providing various accommodation options from high-end resorts to contemporary apartments. Its waterfront will host a long promenade with an array of dining, shopping, and entertainment options.

Central to the city’s cultural landscape will be the City of Culture and Arts, featuring a theater, opera house, cinema, and production studios, aiming to position New El-Alamein as a cultural and tourism hub.

The project also aims to alleviate population density in Cairo, offering a sustainable urban solution supported by smart transportation systems and renewable energy sources.

Already, more than 30 developers have secured permits to build over 30,000 hotel rooms as part of the initial phase, demonstrating significant progress.

Officials describe New El-Alamein as a transformative initiative for the Mediterranean region, showcasing Egypt’s northern coastline as a competitive destination offering sunshine, luxury, and modern living within easy reach of the UK.
