“Covina Christmas Massacre: Santa’s Deadly Rampage”

One of the most chilling Christmas nightmares unfolded when a man dressed as Santa Claus drove to his ex-wife’s former home and carried out a brutal massacre, leaving nine people dead. The horrific incident, known as the Covina massacre, was perpetrated by Bruce Jeffrey Pardo on Christmas Eve in 2008 in Los Angeles County, California.

Bruce, 45, arrived at his ex-wife Sylvia’s family Christmas party in Covina around 11.30pm and started shooting at the party attendees, resulting in multiple fatalities and injuries. The tragic event began with Bruce’s eight-year-old niece opening the door to Santa, only to be shot in the face by him, as the usual Santa was absent that year.

Armed with weapons and a device designed for arson, Bruce unleashed a horrifying attack on the unsuspecting partygoers, claiming the lives of his ex-wife, in-laws, and other family members. The motive behind the massacre was speculated to be related to Bruce and Sylvia’s recent divorce settlement.

Leading up to the massacre, Bruce had been planning the attack for months, acquiring firearms, ammunition, and constructing the arson device. He even went as far as ordering a custom oversized Santa suit for the occasion. Despite suffering severe burns during the attack, Bruce managed to escape to his brother’s house, where he ultimately took his own life.

Authorities later uncovered Bruce’s additional plans of booby-trapping a car outside his ex-wife’s attorney’s home and his own brother’s residence. The shocking incident left a community devastated and questioning the motives behind such a heinous act on what should have been a joyous holiday celebration.
