“CBC Urged to Address Canada Curling Team’s Inappropriate Language”

British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) co-commentator Steve Cram has urged Winter Olympic officials to address the Canada curling team regarding their use of inappropriate language after they defeated Team GB with a score of 9-5.

Brad Jacobs’ team has been caught up in controversy during the events in Milan and Cortina. One of their players, Marc Kennedy, engaged in a profanity-laden exchange with a Swedish player earlier in the competition, leading to a public apology from the BBC.

Kennedy faced further scrutiny for allegedly double-touching his stone during Canada’s match against Sweden, prompting World Curling to issue a statement clarifying the rules. Despite this, the BBC commentary team once again criticized the Canadians for their language.

During a break in the match, the Canadian team was overheard swearing in the vicinity of TV cameras, drawing disapproval from Cram and co-commentator Logan Gray. Cram expressed his frustration at the behavior and called for action to be taken.

At the time when the incident occurred, Canada had secured a 3-1 lead after the third end, making it a critical moment in the game. The outcome of the match was crucial for Team GB’s standing in the competition.

Following their loss to Canada, Team GB faced a challenging path to the semi-finals, needing to secure wins against both Canada and the USA in their upcoming matches. The pressure was on as they aimed to secure a spot in the final stages of the competition.

The Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games are ongoing, offering fans over 850 hours of live action on discovery+ via Prime Video. Subscribers can access the dedicated Olympic coverage on TNT Sports 2 with a £3.99 discovery+ Entertainment subscription.

As the competition heats up, Team GB must now navigate a tough road ahead to secure a spot in the semi-finals, relying on favorable results and strong performances to keep their Olympic dreams alive.
