Terrifying recent footage captures the moment a UPS plane’s wing ignites just before the aircraft crashed and exploded in a fiery inferno. The incident occurred shortly after the plane departed from Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport in Kentucky, resulting in nine fatalities, including four individuals not on board, and injuring 11 others, with two in critical condition.
A dramatic video taken during take-off shows the left wing emitting smoke as the plane struggles to ascend, eventually crashing and engulfing the area in flames upon impact. Aviation attorney Pablo Rojas expressed concern over the aircraft’s struggle to gain altitude with a fire blazing on its left side, highlighting the imminent danger due to the large fuel capacity onboard.
Former Department of Transportation inspector general Mary Schiavo suggested that the engine may have detached from the aircraft before the crash and subsequent fireball. Investigations by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are ongoing to determine the cause of the crash involving a McDonnell Douglas MD-11F aircraft.
The crash directly hit a fuel recycling business near the airport, triggering secondary explosions from propane and oil storage tanks. Firefighters faced challenges battling the massive fire over an extensive area, leading to the closure of the airport with no immediate plans for reopening. Authorities continue to work on securing the scene and investigating the incident further.
