UK Regional Airline Eastern Airways Ceases Operations

Eastern Airways, a UK domestic airline, has ceased operations and canceled all its flights. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) confirmed that the regional airline, which served six UK airports, is currently not operating any flights and advised customers against going to the airport.

The airline’s destinations included Aberdeen, Humberside, London Gatwick, Newquay, Teesside International, and Wick. This decision follows the company, headquartered in Kirmington, filing a notice of intent to appoint an administrator at the Insolvency and Companies Court within the High Court on Monday morning.

Selina Chadha, the CAA’s consumer and markets director, cautioned passengers against heading to the airport as all Eastern Airways flights have been canceled. Affected customers are encouraged to make alternative travel arrangements via other airlines, trains, or coaches.

London North Eastern Railway, ScotRail, TransPennine Express, and Northern are offering free standard-class travel to Eastern Airways staff and customers on October 28 and 29. To access this offer, passengers must present an Eastern Airways employee ID, boarding pass, or flight confirmation to station staff on eligible routes operated by each train company, as stated by the CAA.

Established in 1997, Eastern Airways previously operated charter flights for various sports teams, including Premier League and Championship clubs.
