“Trump Admin Faces Backlash Over Epstein Files Release”

The Trump administration has faced accusations of a “cover-up” as it plans to release only a portion of the US Government’s Jeffrey Epstein files, sparking criticism from Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. The move to stagger the release of documents rather than making them available all at once has drawn ire from Epstein’s victims, who feel betrayed and demand transparency.

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche announced that several hundred thousand documents would be released on Friday, with more to follow over the next few weeks. Schumer emphasized that the law mandated the release of all Epstein files within 30 days, and failure to do so constitutes a violation.

Schumer and other officials have vowed to challenge the administration’s decision, citing concerns about potential cover-ups and the protection of powerful individuals involved in Epstein’s sex trafficking ring. The push for transparency has garnered bipartisan support, with Congressman Ro Khanna urging the Justice Department to provide a clear timeline for the full release of documents.

Blanche reiterated the department’s commitment to protecting victims’ identities and ensuring that sensitive information is safeguarded. Despite the ongoing release of documents, calls for complete transparency and accountability in exposing those responsible for Epstein’s crimes persist among lawmakers and survivors.

The Epstein Files Transparency Act, passed by Congress in November, mandates the release of all unclassified records related to Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell, and others implicated in criminal activities. The files must be accessible in searchable formats, marking a significant development following pressure for disclosure from various quarters.
