“The Original Factory Shop Enters Administration, Places 1,180 Jobs at Risk”

The Original Factory Shop has recently entered administration, appointing administrators from Interpath Advisory. This move has put 137 stores and 1,180 jobs in jeopardy. While the physical stores are still operating normally, the online operations have been suspended as the administrators evaluate the business’s options.

According to the administrators, The Original Factory Shop has been struggling with cost inflation, increasing labor expenses, and reduced sales due to decreased consumer spending. Additionally, issues with its third-party warehouse and logistics partner have exacerbated the company’s challenges. Established in 1969, The Original Factory Shop was acquired by Modella Capital last year.

Rick Harrison, the managing director at Interpath and one of the joint administrators, expressed regret over the situation, stating that the company has been a key presence in local high streets nationwide. Despite the difficulties, efforts will be made to operate all stores as a going concern while exploring potential solutions for the business.
