A tragic incident has led to the death of a one-year-old child, prompting a police investigation into the circumstances. The case has been taken over by homicide detectives from Victoria Police following the child’s passing in Sebastopol, located in south Ballarat, regional Victoria.
Reportedly, the baby became unresponsive around midday on Tuesday, November 4, at home. Subsequently, the 26-year-old mother and her 18-year-old partner rushed the child to a Melbourne hospital for urgent medical attention. Despite efforts made at the hospital, the baby, whose identity remains undisclosed, succumbed to the situation.
The police statement released today stated, “Detectives from the Homicide Squad are looking into the incident involving the death of a child from Sebastopol last week.” It further mentioned that the circumstances surrounding the child’s demise are under investigation, with the Homicide Squad and Ballarat Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Investigation Team interviewing the child’s mother, aged 26, and her partner, aged 18.

In a separate tragic event, an eight-year-old child lost his life after being discovered unresponsive in a swimming pool near Shepparton, Australia, on November 9.
