Failed assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks, who targeted then-presidential candidate Donald Trump in Pennsylvania in July 2024, had a peculiar interest in unconventional fetishes, particularly bodybuilding women. Crooks, who grazed Trump’s ear during the rally, was fatally shot following the unsuccessful attempt, leading to an investigation into his background and motivations.
According to the FBI, Crooks’ online activities on DevianArt revealed his fascination with animated images of muscular women, particularly those involved in dominating scenarios. This revelation sheds light on Crooks, who did not leave behind any manifesto or clear reasons for his actions.
The FBI disclosed that Crooks acted alone, dispelling speculations of a broader conspiracy involving him. Bureau Director Kash Patel and FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino refuted claims made by conservative commentator Tucker Carlson, asserting that the investigation into the assassination attempt was one of the agency’s most extensive, involving 500 employees conducting around 1,000 interviews globally.
Using a .223 rifle, Crooks fired eight rounds at Trump, causing injury during a pivotal moment in the 2024 presidential race. Secret Service agents swiftly neutralized Crooks after the attack. Despite criticisms of the FBI’s failure to prevent the incident, Patel emphasized that law enforcement had no prior knowledge of Crooks or any reports about him.
The FBI also dismissed theories of a second shooter and confirmed the accountability of all rounds fired during the attack. Officials further clarified that there was no indication of foreign government involvement in Crooks’ actions.
