“Kristen Bell Opens Up About Battle with Depression”

Kristen Bell has reflected on challenging moments when she found it difficult to get out of bed during her battle with depression, describing it as a struggle to leave the bed. The 45-year-old actress, who first shared her mental health struggles in 2016, has previously faced issues with anxiety and depression. Recalling her decision to speak openly about her challenges, Kristen mentioned, “I realized I had been portraying myself as an optimistic, cheerful person for many years, despite experiencing this heavy feeling. Once I was honest about it, the support I received from people was incredible, so I continued to address it.”

She further added, “There are times when, even though nothing has changed in my life, my mind tells me, ‘Today, you are terrible, and no one likes you. Stay in bed.’” In an interview with Red Magazine for their December edition, Kristen elaborated that pulling herself out of depression is a tough task.

In 2016, Kristen candidly shared how her struggles with mental health had become “overwhelming.” She described depression not as mere sadness but as a consuming debilitation that shut down her mental processes. Kristen, who began experiencing these issues during her time at New York University, expressed, “I am usually a cheerful, positive person, but suddenly I felt unlike myself. There was no logical explanation for feeling this way. I was studying at New York University, managing my finances well, had friends and goals – yet, something inexplicable was dragging me down.”

Presently, Kristen, who is married to Dax Shepherd, openly discusses her mental health journey and aims to support others in similar situations. In her work, she finds support from her co-star Adam Brody in the show “Nobody Wants This,” with whom she developed a strong friendship while filming the Netflix hit. Despite the challenges, the show has returned for a second season on Netflix this week. Kristen revealed that convincing Adam to join the show took months as he was initially disinterested in playing a romantic lead. She expressed her surprise at his eventual acceptance, emphasizing his unique personality and charm that captivates audiences.
