“Freely Challenges UK TV Giants with Innovative Offerings”

Freely Emerges as a Strong Competitor in the UK TV Market

The UK TV landscape, long dominated by Sky and Freeview, now faces a formidable challenger in the form of Freely. Launched in 2024, Freely has swiftly garnered over one million households as users, signaling its rising popularity and appeal.

Since its inception, Freely has continuously enhanced its features and content offerings. With a lineup of more than 50 live channels accessible without the need for traditional aerial or dish installations, Freely has positioned itself as a convenient and versatile option for viewers.

In a recent development, Freely has introduced its new Freely Spotlight Channels, providing additional entertainment options to users at no extra cost. These channels can be streamed solely through a standard Wi-Fi connection, enhancing accessibility for viewers.

Freely has disclosed that the Spotlight Channels will be located on channel 31, as well as channels 90 to 99, with availability extended to CTV OS partners on Freely-enabled devices. V, the company behind the VIDAA OS smart TV platform utilized in Hisense televisions, has been confirmed as the launch partner, offering a curated selection of channels through the Freely TV Guide.

These new Spotlight Channels are set to complement existing UK broadcasters within the TV guide, offering selected channels increased visibility and credibility within the regulated UK TV environment.

While specific content details for the Spotlight Channels are yet to be confirmed, additional information is expected to be revealed closer to the launch date.

Commenting on the growth and strategic direction of Freely, Deep Halder, Chief Commercial Officer at Everyone TV, emphasized the platform’s commitment to delivering long-term value across the ecosystem. The initiative to involve CTV OS partners in specific TV guide sections aims to create fresh opportunities while ensuring the accessibility of free, trusted TV content for UK audiences amidst the evolving streaming landscape.

For those unfamiliar with Freely, it is managed by the team behind Freeview and Freesat. Setting itself apart by delivering all content through broadband connections, Freely eliminates the need for traditional aerials, satellite dishes, or complex installations.

To access Freely, households only require a compatible TV or set-top box and a dependable Wi-Fi connection. The platform offers a diverse range of features, including more than 50 live channels, on-demand content, personalized recommendations, a comprehensive TV guide, and the ability to pause live television.
