An Evri delivery driver was fired after a video surfaced showing him tossing packages and using offensive language at the residence of a police officer.
The incident, captured on a doorbell camera, revealed the driver hurling glassware-filled parcels at Matt Whitehead’s doorstep in Didsbury, Greater Manchester. Whitehead, age 46, received a notification on his phone from the camera, alerting him to the situation.
Footage depicted the driver recklessly handling deliveries while shouting profanities at Whitehead. In one instance, he threw a package containing a mirror and made derogatory remarks about the homeowners. This misconduct is not an isolated case, as other delivery drivers have been caught in similar acts despite their daily earnings.
Subsequently, the same driver was observed tossing fragile glassware into Whitehead’s porch on a separate occasion. Whitehead described the driver as “abusive” and noted that neighbors had previously reported his rude behavior.
Whitehead, who works shifts, mentioned that he monitored the incidents through his phone alerts due to potential delivery issues. He expressed concern about the driver’s angry and vulgar behavior, emphasizing the potential intimidation factor, especially for vulnerable individuals.
Video recordings from Whitehead’s Ring camera captured the driver making deliveries on October 3 and October 9 when no one was home. Despite the complaints, the driver received a final warning from the Evri complaints team.
Following the incident, Evri confirmed that the driver had been terminated, stating their commitment to customer satisfaction and zero tolerance for such behavior. They apologized to the customer and asserted that the driver would no longer be part of their delivery team.
