A popular online beauty retailer is potentially up for sale as reports indicate that advisors have been enlisted to evaluate the company’s status. Beauty Bay, established in 1999 by siblings Arron and David Gabbie in Manchester, offers a wide array of products from over 200 brands, including favorites like Ariana Grande, Clinique, MAC, along with their own product line.
According to a recent article by Sky News, Beauty Bay is considering various options to secure additional funding, including the possibility of selling the business outright. Interpath, an advisory firm, is said to be collaborating with Beauty Bay on this endeavor. Currently, Beauty Bay has a staff of 65 employees, and inquiries have been made to the company by The Mirror for comments.
In other beauty industry news, the well-known brand Malin + Goetz has recently gone into administration, resulting in the closure of its seven stores across London, affecting more than 70 jobs. Online orders from Malin + Goetz have been momentarily suspended, with a message on their website indicating a temporary halt in online sales. However, customers can still purchase Malin + Goetz products through third-party retailers such as Liberty, John Lewis, and Space NK.
A representative for Malin + Goetz explained in a statement to TheIndustry.beauty that after a thorough evaluation of the business and exploring all viable options, the difficult decision was made to place their UK operations into administration, necessitating the closure of all UK stores and the head office. The spokesperson expressed regret over the impact on employees and customers, citing job losses as an unfortunate but unavoidable outcome.
Despite the temporary online shutdown, Malin + Goetz plans to resume website operations after a brief maintenance period, although the exact duration remains uncertain. Originally launched in New York in 2004 by Matthew Malin and Andrew Goetz, Malin + Goetz began with a limited product range tailored for all skin types before expanding into fragrance, body care, and various beauty categories.
