Fifty-nine days ago, John Alford, a once prominent actor in Britain, received an eight-and-a-half-year prison sentence for sexually abusing two minors. During his sentencing, Alford, whose real name was John Shannon, displayed a facade of strength for his family in the courtroom, but it was evident that he was deeply shattered. Sadly, two months later, Alford’s demise was confirmed when he was discovered lifeless in his cell at HMP Bure in Norfolk on a Friday.
Before his sentencing, Alford managed to evade photographers outside St Albans Crown Court by donning a hat to obscure his appearance.
