Freeview, the popular television service, has recently made significant changes to its TV guide, involving repositioning and renaming of channels. Notably, one channel, Talk (Ch 280), is being discontinued, impacting Freeview users who will no longer have access to this British news channel known for its focus on debate, opinion-led journalism, and politics.
To continue watching Talk, viewers will now need to use the official Talk app or access it through platforms such as Samsung TVs, Roku devices, and LG screens.
Additionally, Freeview’s latest update includes the rebranding of Wedotv Big Stories on channel 275 to simply Wedotv. Moreover, three services are changing their positions on the planner. Ketchup TV, Ketchup Too, and Cartoon Classics will be relocating to new channel numbers – Ketchup TV moving from Ch 209 to Ch 208, Ketchup Too shifting from Ch 210 to Ch 209, and Cartoon Classics now available on Ch 210 instead of Ch 214.
Freeview stated that on June 25, 2026, some broadcasters will be altering their channels. The platform emphasized that channel changes are common on Freeview as networks decide to relocate, add, or remove channels to offer audiences a diverse range of content.
To ensure all channels are correctly set up on your TV, Freeview advises users to access the settings and perform a retune. This process is crucial for updating the TV and maintaining an up-to-date channel lineup and TV guide.
For guidance on how to retune your TV, follow these steps:
– Press menu on your box or TV remote control.
– Select ‘set-up’, ‘installation’, ‘update’, or a similar option. If prompted for a password, use the default code ‘1234’ or ‘0000’.
– Choose ‘first-time installation’ or a similar option.
– Confirm the deletion of existing channels if prompted, and the retune should start automatically. Save any found channels if required.
