Westlife’s Shane Filan had a memorable mishap on live television when he forgot the lyrics to a song. The renowned pop star, aged 46, rose to fame in the late 1990s as part of the Irish boyband alongside Kian Egan, Nicky Byrne, and Brian McFadden. Mark Feehily, currently on hiatus due to health issues, completes the quartet, although Brian McFadden left permanently in 2004. The trio, now making a comeback, released their latest single “Chariot,” featured on their upcoming greatest hits album titled 25, which will also include hits like “You Raise Me Up” and “Uptown Girl,” with “Chariot” as a bonus addition.
During a performance on The Late Late Show in Ireland, Shane had to step in for the absent Mark, whose vocals are on the album. However, Shane struggled to recall the correct lyrics and ended up improvising, drawing attention to the slip-up. Host Patrick Kielty playfully pointed out the mistake at the end of the performance, teasing Shane about the unexpected rendition.
Explaining the mix-up, Shane humorously attributed it to Mark’s absence, admitting to singing the wrong line in the second verse and having to improvise on the spot. Despite the slip-up, Shane embraced the moment and acknowledged the fun in the unexpected turn of events.
At the conclusion of the show, Patrick commended the group, presenting them with a Late Late Show award in recognition of their 25-year contribution to the music industry and their representation of Ireland both locally and internationally.
Mark Feehily, unfortunately, will not be part of the 25th-anniversary celebrations due to his ongoing health challenges. The group expressed hope for Mark’s return to the stage when he is ready, conveying his love and positivity to their fans.
Westlife recently announced their plans to celebrate their 25th anniversary as a trio, expressing gratitude for the continued support and loyalty of their fans worldwide. They shared their excitement for upcoming projects, including new music, special shows, and surprises for their fans. Despite Mark’s absence, the group remains thankful for the unwavering support from fans and looks forward to celebrating their milestone together.
