Aldi is issuing an urgent recall for a popular chocolate snack due to concerns about a significant ‘health risk’.
The Food Standards Agency has highlighted that packs of Dairyfine Crispy Choc Um’s might contain peanuts, posing a potential health hazard to individuals with nut allergies.
Consumers who have purchased the product and have a peanut allergy are advised not to consume it. Instead, they should return it to the store where it was bought to receive a full refund. This recall pertains to all 121g packs and is not restricted to specific best before dates. Customers with inquiries about the product are encouraged to contact Aldi customer service.
In a recall notice released today, Aldi stated, “Our supplier is recalling Dairyfine Crispy Choc Um’s as a precautionary measure due to potential peanut contamination. Consumers are requested to return the product to the nearest store for a full refund. We apologize for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your cooperation.”
Additionally, there is a separate urgent recall for Halloween treats sold in Irish supermarkets, including Lidl and Aldi, because of an undeclared allergen.
The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has cautioned that Rose Halloween Spooky Tea Cakes, mistakenly packed with Rose Orchard Tea Cakes, contain egg, which is not listed on the packaging.
The FSAI emphasized, “The affected batches of Rose Halloween Spooky Tea Cakes were mispacked with Rose Orchard Tea Cakes, containing egg, an undeclared ingredient. This may pose a risk to consumers allergic or intolerant to eggs, and they should avoid consuming the affected batches. The impacted products are being recalled.”
The affected products have the best-before dates of 28/08/26, 18/09/26, 22/09/26, and 24/09/26.
