One Sunday after church service, a parishioner remarked on the striking resemblance between Lily and her “grandmother” Debbie, igniting a discussion about their close bond. Despite not being biologically related, the similarities in appearance and connection between Lily and Debbie were evident to many who observed them together.
Debbie, a neighbor who became a surrogate grandparent to Lily, entered their lives shortly after Julie and her husband moved to Ottawa. Lily, born after years of struggle with infertility, brought immense joy until a devastating diagnosis of a brain tumor.
