Work has been underway at Frogmore Cottage around the clock in anticipation of Prince Andrew’s potential relocation, as per recent reports. This development follows Andrew’s recent relinquishment of his royal titles due to his association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, prompting increasing pressure for him to vacate the Royal Lodge. Frogmore Cottage, along with Adelaide Cottage, were proposed as potential residences for Andrew and his former spouse Sarah Ferguson some months back.
Notably, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who resided at Frogmore Cottage in 2019, invested £2.4 million in refurbishments for the historic Grade-II listed property. The couple was asked to vacate the cottage by 2023. According to The Sun, Andrew has agreed to vacate Royal Lodge with intentions to move into Frogmore Cottage, while Sarah is reportedly interested in Adelaide Cottage. Remaining in Windsor would enable Andrew to stay close to his daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, along with their families.
An insider disclosed to a newspaper that significant activity has been observed at Frogmore Cottage, with workers present day and night. The property, which was last inhabited by Princess Eugenie briefly during lockdown, was renovated by Harry and Meghan six years ago, indicating that substantial repairs may not be required. Frogmore Cottage, originally constructed in 1972 by Queen Charlotte for her and her daughters’ retreat, has primarily housed royal staff since World War Two, prior to the Sussexes’ occupancy.
Despite reports that the King offered the cottage to Prince Andrew last year, the offer was reportedly declined. Buckingham Palace has refrained from commenting on Andrew’s potential relocation or future living arrangements.
