A man who callously orchestrated a sexual assault in a hotel room, laughing as he did so, has been sentenced to a decade in prison. However, the perpetrator, David Morrison, is currently evading authorities.
Morrison, aged 44, was convicted of rape and sexual assault following a trial in August. Despite a bench warrant being issued for his arrest after he failed to appear in court for the verdict, he has not been apprehended.
During the sentencing at Teesside Crown Court, it was revealed that Morrison had coerced another man to engage in sexual activity with a woman against her will. Morrison callously left the room, only to return later with the man, telling him to do as he pleased with the victim.
The victim, unaware of the situation, protested and asked the man to leave. She was informed that Morrison had paid the man to fulfill his own desires. Despite her objections, Morrison callously proceeded to rape her after the other man departed.
In a heartbreaking victim impact statement, the woman, whose identity remains protected, described the profound and lasting trauma she continues to endure. She expressed how the assault has left her feeling trapped in her own home, fearing her own body, and battling emotional distress every day.
Morrison, an engineer with no prior criminal record, was ultimately sentenced to 10 years in prison. A restraining order has been issued to prevent him from contacting the victim, and he will be required to register as a sex offender upon his capture.
Despite Morrison’s attempts to evade justice, the court emphasized the significance of holding him accountable for the suffering inflicted upon the victim.
