Luke Littler has shared that Mensur Suljovic predicted their upcoming encounter in the third round before the commencement of the World Darts Championship. The 18-year-old successfully defended his title by defeating Welsh competitor David Davies in straight sets.
Maintaining his status as the frontrunner at Alexandra Palace, Littler’s path to victory appears more promising following Gerwyn Price’s elimination by Wesley Plaisier. Suljovic, on the other hand, triumphed over Joe Cullen in a contentious albeit slow match earlier in the day.
Cullen expressed displeasure with Suljovic’s deliberate pace, accusing him of ‘cheating’ on social media. Undeterred by the criticism, Suljovic shifted his focus towards the anticipated clash with Littler, a match he had been eyeing even before the tournament started.
In a post-match interview, Littler shared a playful message he received from Suljovic, who humorously predicted their round three encounter. Littler acknowledged Suljovic’s strong performance and welcomed the upcoming challenge with enthusiasm.
As Littler progresses in the tournament, tensions escalated between Cullen and Suljovic due to the former’s frustration with the latter’s speed of play. Post-match, Cullen publicly criticized Suljovic’s behavior, labeling it as ‘cheating’ and expressing disappointment with the situation.
Littler’s outlook improved further as potential threats like Ryan Joyce and Chris Dobey were eliminated by other competitors, enhancing his chances of reaching the final. The PDC World Darts Championship, starting on December 11, can be exclusively viewed live on Sky’s Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle.
