“Strictly Come Dancing” Hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman Depart Amid Turmoil

In recent years, the popular TV show “Strictly Come Dancing” has faced a series of controversies, with hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman announcing their departure at the end of the current season. Despite the turmoil surrounding the show, Tess and Claudia have been a stable presence, guiding it through challenging times.

Since 2023, “Strictly Come Dancing” has been embroiled in various scandals, prompting efforts by the show’s producers to rebuild its reputation. Allegations ranging from professional misconduct to drug-related issues have plagued the BBC program, leading to a tumultuous period for the long-standing show.

During the summer, the BBC took action following reports of drug consumption by two stars, prompting an investigation by legal experts. Former contestants, dancers, and crew members were urged to share any concerns they had. Subsequently, the police were alerted to the allegations, with the Metropolitan Police confirming an ongoing assessment of potential criminal offenses.

Speculations suggest that the show’s producers are considering offering rehabilitation opportunities to the stars, and there are talks of implementing random drug testing on future tours known for their lively after-parties. Just before the current season started in September, a “Strictly” participant was arrested on suspicion of rape and other related offenses, sparking a police investigation.

Reports of misconduct within the show have led to dismissals in previous seasons, including the expulsion of Giovanni Pernice in 2023 due to accusations of bullying by his celebrity partner. Similarly, Graziano Di Prima faced allegations of mistreatment towards his partner, resulting in his dismissal. The show has also seen controversies involving other contestants, like Wynne Evans, who faced backlash for inappropriate comments during the live tour.

In a joint statement released on Instagram, hosts Tess and Claudia announced their decision to leave the show together, expressing gratitude to the BBC and the show’s team for their support. The departure of the longstanding presenters adds to the challenges faced by “Strictly Come Dancing,” which continues to navigate through a turbulent period in its history.
