“Jake Pollard Suffers 100th Loss with TKO in High-Profile Fight”

Jake Pollard experienced his 100th loss in professional boxing with a second-round technical knockout on the undercard of the Joseph Parker vs Fabio Wardley fight. Hassan Ishaq improved his record to 3-0 by defeating Pollard at the O2 Arena.

Pollard, a 33-year-old farrier by profession, has now faced 51 consecutive losses in his boxing career, with his sole victory occurring in July 2023 against Louis Smithson. Notably, Pollard has suffered four defeats in October alone, with his latest loss on the high-profile card.

During the fight, Pollard was knocked down in the second round by Ishaq’s well-placed uppercut. The referee, Mark Bates, intervened as Pollard knelt on the canvas before ultimately calling off the match.

Having already participated in 17 fights this year and with three more bouts scheduled, Pollard’s journey in boxing is remarkable. He secured his lone win during a 49-fight losing streak and now finds himself in a 51-match winless streak.

Reflecting on his victory over Smithson two years ago, Pollard stated that while winning was a pleasant change, he has encountered numerous fights where he believes he should have at least drawn but was not given the rounds. Despite the challenges, Pollard emphasized his enjoyment of the sport and the importance of avoiding serious injuries.

For journeyman boxers like himself, Pollard noted that the thrill of facing top prospects and enduring their best efforts in the ring surpasses the feeling of winning. He highlighted the satisfaction of standing tall at the final bell against formidable opponents, regardless of the official decision.

Acknowledging the competitive nature of boxing, Pollard emphasized his commitment to putting on a good performance in every fight. He explained the strategy of adapting to opponents with significant power in the early rounds to ensure survival and competitiveness throughout the match.
