Following the catastrophic weather event, Jamaican authorities have declared the region a disaster zone, with emergency teams striving to reach individuals stranded by the floods. The footage was shared with a sobering message from the aid organization stating, “We are sending our SAFE Camp equipment to establish a secure location for teams to coordinate and operate from. Keep us in your thoughts for safety as we enter into uncharted territory.”
Hurricane Melissa made landfall on Monday, barreling in from the Atlantic at 185mph, resulting in at least seven fatalities, destruction of homes, isolation of communities, and widespread flooding.
