One former Big Brother contestant is making a return to reality television after a significant transformation. It has been two decades since he appeared on the show, and now he has the opportunity to compete for a substantial cash prize on another reality show.
Glyn Wise, who was the runner-up on the seventh season of Big Brother back in 2006, is known for being part of one of the longest seasons in Big Brother history, lasting a total of 93 days. At the time, Glyn was just 18 years old.
Following his time on Big Brother, Glyn made appearances on various television shows and was a regular presenter on BBC Radio Cymru from 2006 to 2012. In 2012, he decided to step away from the public eye and pursued a career as a Welsh language teacher in a secondary school before becoming a tutor at Cardiff University.
By April 2022, Glyn had transitioned once again and underwent training to become an ordained minister in the Church of Wales. He is now set to make a comeback to television as a part of Netflix’s reality TV spin-off show, Squid Game: The Challenge. This show is based on the popular Korean drama Squid Game, where contestants participate in challenges to win a substantial cash prize, with the twist being that losing contestants are simply eliminated from the game.
Fans were excited to see Glyn back on screen, although many had trouble recognizing him due to his drastically changed appearance. Notably, Glyn no longer sports his signature bleached blonde hair and now rocks a bald look paired with a neatly groomed beard.
Some fans reminisced about Glyn’s past struggles in the kitchen during his time on Big Brother, jokingly questioning if he has learned to cook an egg yet. Glyn’s season on Big Brother was marked by controversy, including a contestant’s concerning behavior and debates around the use of the Welsh language on the show.
While Big Brother had fewer than 20 participants, Squid Game: The Challenge boasts a much larger pool of 456 contestants. The new series is scheduled to kick off in November, promising intense competition and high stakes for the participants.
