A grieving father had to remove his deceased son’s brain from a washing machine due to a shocking mistake made by a funeral home. Following the death of Alexander Pinon on May 19, his family sought the services of Lima Family Erickson Memorial Chapel in San Jose, California, for his burial arrangements.
According to their legal representative, Samer Habbas, the family wanted to change Alexander’s attire before his final farewell. However, when they received a bag of clothing supposedly belonging to Alexander, it turned out to be a mix-up. As the father emptied the bag into the washing machine, he discovered brain matter, leading to a distressing ordeal.
The father had to extract the brain matter from the machine and return it to the funeral home. Despite the unsettling incident, a staff member named Anita Singh reportedly failed to provide clarity or apologies and simply took the bag from the father.
Alexander was eventually laid to rest at Oak Hill Memorial Park the next day. Weeks later, an anonymous source disclosed that the brain found in the washing machine belonged to Alexander and had been mishandled by the funeral home. Allegations surfaced that the brain was left in a box outside for months, emitting a putrid smell upon discovery.
Samer Habbas criticized the funeral home for attempting to conceal their errors, emphasizing the emotional trauma inflicted on Alexander’s parents. The family’s attorney expressed concerns about the long-lasting impact on the parents, highlighting the unforgettable nature of the incident.
Despite attempts to reach out for comment, the Lima Family Erickson Memorial Chapel has not responded to inquiries from the Mirror.
