Authorities have disclosed that a raccoon, known for causing chaos by breaking into an alcohol shop and subsequently passing out ‘drunk’ near the toilets, is a repeat offender. The incident, which took place in Virginia on November 29, initially appeared to be a burglary with smashed bottles scattered on the floor. However, police later found the raccoon in a state of inebriation at the scene.
It has been shockingly revealed that this was not the first encounter the raccoon had with the law, as it had previously broken into other establishments. Animal Protection Officer Samantha Martin mentioned that this particular raccoon had a history of break-ins, including a karate studio and a Department of Motor Vehicles office where it indulged in snacks.
The decision was made not to relocate the clever animal, as it would likely result in its demise, and indeed, the raccoon managed to return to the same building. The raccoon’s escapade at the Ashland ABC Store liquor, where it caused a commotion before passing out, garnered global attention. The agency responsible for animal protection safely secured the raccoon and transported it back for recovery.
Officer Martin described the chaotic scene at the store, highlighting the raccoon’s intoxicated state and the aftermath of its mischief. Despite the disruption caused, the raccoon was eventually released back into the wild after a period of rest. Experts have noted that raccoons, being naturally curious and resourceful creatures, often venture into human-inhabited areas due to a combination of urban food availability and habitat encroachment.
