British citizen Bella Culley, who was detained in a Georgian prison on drug-related charges, has returned to the UK. The 19-year-old, who is now pregnant, landed in the UK after being released from custody in Georgia. Upon arrival, she was accompanied by law enforcement officers and her mother, who was seen with a suitcase that resembled the one found by Georgian authorities containing a substantial amount of cannabis.
After disembarking from the flight, Bella and her mother reunited with family members before being escorted away by armed police to avoid the media. Bella flew back to the UK on an EasyJet flight from Tbilisi, Georgia, after spending close to six months behind bars in the former Soviet country.
Witnesses reported seeing Bella and her mother rushing into the airport to catch their flight, checking in just in time before departure. An observer mentioned that they were the last passengers to check in and narrowly avoided missing their flight.
