“Accused McCann Stalker Silent in Police Interview”

A woman facing accusations of stalking Madeleine McCann’s family declined to answer numerous police questions during her interview. Julia Wandelt, a 24-year-old Polish individual on trial for claiming to be the missing girl, remained silent when asked about her initial contact with the McCanns, proof of her identity as Madeleine, and visits to their residence.

Wandelt’s police interviews revealed her frustration with the lack of attention to her evidence, emphasizing the need for a DNA test. She expressed sadness upon hearing Kate McCann’s statement and questioned why her DNA had not been tested despite her claims and evidence.

During the trial, details emerged of text messages and voicemails Wandelt allegedly left for Kate McCann, pleading for recognition and asserting her belief that she is Madeleine. Prosecutors claim Wandelt perpetuated the false belief of being Madeleine while harassing the McCanns through various means from June 2022 to February this year.

Forensic evidence presented in court confirmed that Wandelt’s DNA did not match Madeleine’s DNA or that of Kate and Gerry McCann. Despite the evidence, Wandelt faces charges of stalking the McCann family, including sending multiple messages and attempting direct contact.

The ongoing trial also involves allegations of Wandelt’s persistent stalking behavior towards the McCanns between June 2022 and February 2025. The case continues to unfold as more evidence is presented to the court.
