“UK Man Missing After Tragic Malta Swimming Incident”

A man from the UK is currently missing following a tragic incident where an 11-year-old boy lost his life while swimming in Malta. The authorities, including the police and the Civil Protection Department, launched an extensive search operation at Ramla Bay after the incident occurred on Monday afternoon. Despite efforts to rescue him, the boy passed away upon arrival at the hospital.

It remains unclear whether both individuals were swimming together when they encountered difficulties. Notably, the Meteorological Office had issued warnings about strong winds affecting Malta at the beginning of the week. Since the beginning of 2025, there have been a total of 16 drowning incidents in the country.

Search efforts for the missing man, whose identity has not been disclosed, have resumed today. Magistrate Brigitte Sultana is overseeing an inquiry into the recent events as per local reports.

In a separate incident last month, another British tourist drowned at a well-known location in Malta after using a slide on a pleasure boat into the sea. The individual, aged 43, entered the waters at the Blue Lagoon in Comino and tragically passed away despite rescue attempts.

The safety concerns surrounding the Blue Lagoon in Malta have been highlighted, with several tragic incidents occurring in recent months. Authorities are investigating these incidents to ensure public safety and prevent further accidents.
