Prince Andrew’s security arrangements are under scrutiny as he vacates his Royal Lodge residence in Windsor. With his titles revoked and state-funded police protection withdrawn during legal proceedings with Virginia Giuffre, Andrew’s security situation has shifted. He relinquished military titles and patronages to the late Queen Elizabeth when he lost his royal status. Subsequently, King Charles recently stripped him of his Prince and Duke of York titles due to what was described as “serious lapses of judgement.”
According to Westminster Security, Andrew lost entitlement to royal protection when he ceased public duties, necessitating him to finance his private security. Initially supported by his brother, the King, Andrew later had his police protection reinstated. Financial strains were evident as Charles reduced Andrew’s royal income and ceased security payments, leaving him with a modest naval pension. His daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, have been independently funding their private security.
Moving from Royal Lodge to Sandringham, a private estate owned by King Charles, Andrew will rely on estate security measures. Sandringham’s secluded nature offers limited public access, ensuring privacy and security. Recent flight restrictions over the estate were imposed following security concerns during a visit by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Despite residing with Andrew at Royal Lodge, Sarah Ferguson is making separate living arrangements and is not expected to relocate to Norfolk with him.
