At least three individuals were swiftly taken to the hospital following a shooting incident at a shopping center amidst Black Friday sales, causing shoppers to seek refuge.
A manhunt is currently in progress for the perpetrator of the tragic attack at the Westfield Valley Fair Mall in San Jose, California. Multiple gunshot victims are receiving medical treatment, as confirmed by the police.
During the incident that took place at 5:40 pm local time yesterday, a man, a woman, and a 16-year-old girl sustained injuries, according to Sergeant Jorge Garibay from the San Jose Police Department.
Law enforcement has classified the event as an “isolated incident” and reassured the public that there is no ongoing threat. The San Jose Police Department clarified that there is no danger to the general public.
Authorities suspect that the shooting transpired following a dispute between the alleged gunman and the male victim. Unfortunately, the two female victims were caught in the crossfire, as reported by KRON4.
Eyewitness Shawn Kulasingham, 23, recounted hearing a loud noise and witnessing a large crowd of people. He described the chaotic scene as a stampede, with the building seemingly trembling.
Kulasingham mentioned seeking refuge in a secure-looking store, Abercrombie & Fitch, with his sister and father. They concealed themselves behind clothing racks and cabinets while witnessing the panic among others.
Around 20 customers were directed into storage closets at Bloomingdales by store security, including Bilal Zuberi and his wife, who detailed the incident on social media. Although they did not hear gunshots, there was widespread panic, and an announcement instructed individuals to stay put as the doors were secured.
